Gratitude
I have been pouring over the nienie blog and her sister's and I am in tears. What an amazing family. I have so much to be grateful for and yet I often find myself complaining. Obviously life's curveballs are thrown at us for a reason. ( Kris often tells me that god has a sense of humor)
I guess I am usually feeling pretty picked on for having the curveball versus asking myself what can I learn from this? I think I am going to start doing a thankful thursday blog from now on and pick something or someone that I am grateful for.
I think today I will start with Kylie.
Kylie is my beautiful daughter. I am grateful for Kylie for teaching me how to be a mother. How to be less selfish, I was basically a baby having a baby. I know she is going to become someone amazing someday. She is the best little artist I have seen in our family and sooooo smart.
I am grateful for her health and her smile. Right now she has the smile with some big girl teeth and the baby teeth. Priceless. I love my little family, and I am grateful for all my blessings. Also, I am grateful for those who read my blog and actually care enough about us to check out what we are doing :)

Praying Mantis Cacoon?
First off I know this picture is terrible so sorry. I was out in the garden today planting some tulip bulbs and weeding when I found this. I remember my dad pointing them out to me as a little girl. I don't know what they are really called if it is a cacoon or what but I am so excited it is coming back next year. I saw several on and off all summer long and wondered whether or not they would return. I thought my garden would go to sleep weeks ago now it is really ok to go to sleep. I am tired of weeding. :)Monday, November 10, 2008
Mini Kris
Lake Powell

Yes, this is last year. I know I know I look like complete crap! I don't really care though. This was one of the most fun vacations I have ever been on. This is Kris's dad's houseboat it isn't one of the huge one's which is fine with me. Have you ever filled a houseboat with gas? Not cheap. I am wishing we were down there now in the 115 degree heat. Oh I cant wait to go back our houseboat with the pirate flag and all of the drunks aboard. Now I just have to get my fat butt out of bed before the kiddos so I can look decent in a swimming suit.
Porter

Here is Kris and I's first baby. Porter is our 7 and half year old great dane. I think he is a beautiful dog myself. He also happens to be a pain in the butt. Porter is now keeping Kris's grandma company. Long story anywho I found these picks of him and wanted to post them. Maybe I will break out the antlers and get some pics with him and the kids.Banana Bread
Today I made my grandma's banana bread. She has had the recipe since she was in Jr. High! I thought I would share it with you. I made 14 little loaves and froze 12 of them. I think it tastes even better after it comes out of the freezer.
Banana Bread
4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. salt
6 banana's mashed
1 cup shortening
4 eggs
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Sift flour, soda, and salt. Add flour alternately with bananas. Add nuts if desired ( I use pecans) Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour. It depends on the loaf size and your oven.
Enjoy.

New Phone
I am so excited! Kris gave me my christmas gift early. About 6 weeks ago I washed my cellphone on accident. So I have been holding out on getting a new one because I wanted the i phone. Tonight Kris took the kids and I downtown to the gateway and he got it for me. What a sweet husband. Normally he is the one with all the fancy shmancy tech stuff and I could care less. I mainly wanted it for the i pod and the phone part is just a bonus. I think it is going to take me weeks to finally master the thing. Yay, now if I break down in the middle of nowhere I have a phone and music to boot!
Hard Water Problem
This is what I used trying to get the hard water off.
This is after I cleaned for an hour.
This is before. Gross! I leave the shower up to my hubby and as you can tell it has been neglected. On top of having hard water we have travertine tile. They told me to clean it with something mild like dish soap. Ya right, did you see everything I tried? I think I accidently bleached the bottom of the shower so if I dont post another thing you will all know my husband noticed this. Does anyone have a sure fire way to get the hard water off? Other than a wonderful water softener which is just not in my budget right now.

Remembering Thomas
It is late and I should be in bed....but I can't sleep. It has almost been one year ago since our employee Thomas passed away. It is bringing back the memories like it was only yesterday. What started out as a normal day for Kris going from one job to the next ended up in a day that we will never forget. Kris had to leave the job in Layton that he was doing to go to another one in Centerville to wrap up some stuff. His employee Thomas started complaining his back hurt when they got there, but continued to work. They finished up and were getting ready to go back to Layton and things were getting worse for Thomas. Kris asked him if he wanted to go see a doctor and Thomas said he didnt have the money to go. Kris was really concerned and asked again this time offering to pay the copay. He said he just needed to relax for a miniute and did Kris have any ibprofen for the pain. Kris gave him the ibprofen and they got on the freeway. Thomas started sweating profusely and asked if they could roll down the windows so he could get some air. They arrived at the other jobsite and Thomas said he was going to stay in the truck for a while. Kris left him in there and continued to check on him. It was about lunch time and Kris went to see if Thomas wanted Kris to drive him home. Kris opened the door of his truck and Thomas fell out onto him. He was dead. Kris called 911 and they tried to do cpr on him but it was no use. Kris called me very shook up and asked me to come be with him. When I got there Thomas was gone, and CSI has taped off our truck the trailor etc. It was so surreal you see this on tv you dont think it will happen to you. Thomas died of a heart attack at age 29 and left a young daughter behind. So sad. This was someone who was in amazing shape and you would not think something like this would happen. I think events like these make you examine your life and realize how precious life is. Sometimes we need to be reminded. I know I do, its hard to always be positive in the midst of bad things happening. Ie starter in car going out. washing machine going out, computer hard drive... you get the point. It made me realize how lucky we were that Kris didn't break his neck falling off a 15 foot wall. I learned a lot last year from all of the crazy things that happened to us. I hope that Thomas's family is doing well. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

Home Office Needs Help!

This is our home office. I need help! I would like to get a new desk and everything I have looked is super expensive. So as it sits I am using my old kitchen table as my computer desk. Does anyone have any ideas on something that would look good and not cost a fortune? On the other side of the room its completely bare and I would like a chair and a table with a lamp or something. Does anyone know of any second hand stores or somewhere cheap and classy? I need help?Anxiety/Panic Attacks
I am going to get personal here, since there are alot of people that dont know that I sruggle with anxiety/panic attacks. (I am getting anxiety just writing about this.) For everyone who knows us you know how horrible our luck has been. I think that the last straw for my body was when Kris fell off the roof, and our emoloyee died in our truck last year. After those events I started to get the anxiety etc. I went to the doctor with what I thought was a spider bite. My arm was going numb, and was turning red. The doctor said that all of those things were caused by stress and anxiety. If you have never experienced it before you are lucky. You feel like you are going to have a heart attack it is one of the scariest things I have experienced. I had no idea that your body could react to stress like that.
Things have been looking up for us and I try to avoid doing things that trigger my stress. I just want to thank everyone that has prayed for us and thinks about us. It has helped me tremendously, sometimes I wonder if I will make it through the day when I have anxiety. I dont like to take the medication that they gave me for this, it makes me want to crawl out of my own skin. So every day is a new one and hopefully a better one.

Gender Confusion?
Now he knows he is in trouble and is bailing out! What a naughty boy.
Ok, this looks normal enough. This big cat happens to be our male cat Zeus. What the heck is he doing in there with the babies? I dont think this is normal. Does he just like laying in there with them? I cant figure this out, the babies cry because they want to eat and cant. This is why I wonder if he has a gender confusion problem. I'm worried he is going to hurt them. What a stinker, he is as bad as a child.Halloween
Kris helping with some last minute pumpkin carving. I love him so much.
Look how miserable poor Mason is.
Halloween was not the same this year for me. Our little Mason was breathing very rapidly and it brought back everything I went through with Braxton. ( All of the doctor visits and hospital stays ,to sum it up I was having anxiety) I spent all day long checking how fast per minute he was breathing. We didn't make it down to all the grandparents houses like we had hoped to but we made the best of it. Mason was a rooster, Kylie a witch, and braxton was the underworld grim reaper or something. I tried to talk him into something a little less scary, but he wanted nothing to do with that.

Halloween Pizza
The kids were so excited to have this for dinner, but there is a story behind this. I thought I was on top of it by going early to get the pizza. Wrong! Everyone else, and their dog decided to do the same thing. The kids wanted this so bad we waited 40 min in line. I felt like we were at Disneyland. While waiting in line I had one of those embarassing moments with my children. We are halfway through the line, when a large man comes in. My 4 year old son is sooooooo loud anyways, but he shouts " Mom, look how fat he is." I could have died. Literally. The man decided to come back later, but my face had to of been as red as the pizza sauce. Then I had to have the chat with him that we dont always say what we are thinking. How embarrassing!!!!!
